Andrew McIlroy, Master Acting Teacher & Artistic Director holding a script

Master Camera

with Andrew McIlroy

CAMERA CONCENTRATION

Finally we are making work for a specific form - we are refining our interest in the lego - like way the camera accumulates our every gesture our every word.
We can develop an awareness beyond hoping the camera caught it.
We can pursue the profound relaxation that a character requires as its feeding ground.
We can develop a tolerance for the prying and compassionate eye of the lens.

I have so much respect for Andrew as a coach and as a human being. As a coach, he has an amazing eye for highly effective storytelling and is straightforward and honest in his approach. Through training with Andrew, I’ve gained more confidence and liberation in my work. He offers you many tools to add to your instrument to make your work more clear, honest and grounded in the world around you. Andrew is such a caring and open-minded person and I can’t recommend training with him enough!

Where do you start with Andrew? I’ve studied with many teachers over the years in NYC and LA and I couldn’t feel more blessed to have the great fortune of working of Andrew. He has a gift of seeing beyond and allowing you the space to play, fall, fail even and then rise to a place where the work feels authentic and grounded. I recently worked with him with my daughter Saylor on an audition and his ability to breathe in new life and a fuller story was remarkable. I truly value him and his coaching and his genuine love of the craft, his students and continued question of how do we live the lines.

Andrew doesn’t teach acting; Andrew teaches how to be a real person while being watched. It’s refreshing and true to find a soul that cares like he does and that teaches the right things. A joy to be in class with someone so dedicated to your progress.
